I’ve been suffering from a bout of writer’s block, but I don’t really write them anyway, they just happen … and as it happens, this one chose me. Generally speaking I guess it’s a “why bother, life happens anyway, may as well just try and enjoy the ride” kind of sentiment.

The Fire (it burns)

You live and you give and you take and you break,
and you learn …
at the end of the day you throw it away, in the fire …
the fire it burns.

You preach and you pray and you shout and you beg,
and you turn …
your face to the light at the end of the night, and the fire …
the fire it burns.

CHORUS
The fire the fire it burns, the fire the fire it burns.
The fire the fire it burns, the fire the fire it burns.

You laugh and you love and you can’t get enough,
and it hurts …
when no one comes home and you’re left all alone, while the fire …
the fire it burns.

You rise and you fall and you still want it all,
it’s a curse.
You think you’ll try and you’ll be satisfied, but the fire …
the fire it burns.

– CHORUS –

BRIDGE
You pile it high with failure and dreams, and soak it in hope and gasoline,
and wait for a spark …
just when you think that love is dead, it explodes in hues of blue and red,
and catches you off guard.

You watch as it grows and you think that you know
how it works …
but it slips through your hands like sawdust and sand, and the fire …
the fire it burns.

You scrimp and you save and you work like a slave,
and you thirst …
for a drink on the beach that is just out of reach, and the fire …
the fire it burns.

– CHORUS –

OUTRO
The fire the fire the fire the fire the fire the fire the fire the fire it burns.
